The Phantom of the Opera is a 2004 British-American musical drama film based on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 1986 musical of the same name, which in turn is based on the novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux. The film was directed by Joel Schumacher and produced by Lloyd Webber and David Ian. It stars Gerard Butler, Emmy Rossum, Patrick Wilson, Miranda Richardson, and Minnie Driver.

The film was nominated for three Academy Awards: Best Original Song (“Learn to Be Lonely”), Best Achievement in Costume Design, and Best Art Direction.
