Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a government-funded program that responds to cyberattacks and helps organizations and individuals protect their computer systems.

CERT was founded in 1988 by the United States government in response to the Morris worm, a computer worm that infected 6,000 computers on the internet. The worm was created by University of California student Robert Tappan Morris, and it caused millions of dollars in damage.

Since its inception, CERT has responded to thousands of cyberattacks and helped organizations and individuals protect their computer systems. CERT also provides free cybersecurity training and resources to individuals and organizations.
