Diablo 2 is an action role-playing hack and slash video game developed by Blizzard North and published by Blizzard Entertainment in 2000 for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and Classic MacOS. The game is the second installment in the Diablo series and was followed by Diablo III in 2012.

The game continues the story of Diablo, following the battle between him and the archangel Tyrael. Diablo has been defeated, but his soul remains loose on the mortal plane. The player takes on the role of a hero who must prevent Diablo from taking over the world.
