Drop Dead Fred is a 1991 American dark comedy film starring Phoebe Cates and Rik Mayall. It was written and directed by Ate de Jong. The film tells the story of a woman, Elizabeth, whose traumatic childhood experiences with her over-the-top and violent uncle, Drop Dead Fred, continue to haunt her into adulthood. When Elizabeth moves back to her childhood home, Drop Dead Fred re-enters her life, and she must finally come to terms with her past.

The film was a critical and commercial failure on its initial release, but has since gained a cult following.
