Pokémon Detective Pikachu is an upcoming American action comedy detective film based on the Pokémon franchise. It is directed by Rob Letterman and written by Nicole Perlman, Letterman and Dan Hernandez. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Justice Smith, Kathryn Newton, Ken Watanabe and Bill Nighy. It is produced by Legendary Entertainment and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film follows Smith’s character Tim, who is a Pokémon trainer and son of a police chief, as he searches for his father who has suddenly disappeared. He is aided by Pikachu (Reynolds), who was once his father’s partner Pokémon.
