A high definition DVD movie is an optical disc that can store high-definition video and audio data. The format was developed by the Blu-ray Disc Association, a group of electronics manufacturers.

High definition DVDs can store up to 1920x1080p resolution video and up to 8 channels of uncompressed audio. They can also store up to 50GB of data, which is enough for two hours of high definition video or up to eight hours of standard definition video.
