Released on October 1, 2010, The Social Network is a drama film directed by David Fincher and written by Aaron Sorkin. The film tells the story of the founding of the social networking website Facebook and the ensuing lawsuits.

The Social Network was met with critical acclaim upon release. It received eight Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor, and won three, for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Original Score, and Best Film Editing.
