Disney has announced that a new “Beauty and the Beast” DVD is set to be released in September. The new DVD will include a number of special features, including a “making of” documentary, interviews with the cast and crew, and a look at the film’s music.

The original “Beauty and the Beast” was released in 1991 and was a massive success, both critically and commercially. The film was nominated for six Academy Awards, and won two. A Broadway musical adaptation of the film opened in 1994 and ran for thirteen years.

Disney’s animated classic Beauty and the Beast was released on VHS and Laserdisc in 1994. The film was then released on DVD on March 4, 2003. The original DVD release included the “Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas” animated film and the music video for the song “Human Again” by the cast of the Broadway musical.
