Pope Francis arrived in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, for a historic visit that will include a Mass on the U.S. side of the border.
The visit comes as the Catholic Church faces harsh criticism in Mexico over its handling of the country’s drug war. More than 100,000 people have been killed in drug-related violence since 2006, and the pope is expected to address the issue during his trip.
