Laverne and Shirley is an American sitcom that ran from January 27, 1976, to May 10, 1983, on ABC. The show was produced by Paramount Television. It starred Penny Marshall as Laverne DeFazio and Cindy Williams as Shirley Feeney, two single women who worked as bottlecappers in a fictitious brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The series was a spin-off of Happy Days, as the two characters Laverne and Shirley appeared in the 1974 episode “The Fonz and the Happy Days Gang” as acquaintances of Fonzie (Henry Winkler). Set in the 1950s and 1960s, the show was a period piece.
